Description
This was intended to be a quick speedpaint, but I ended up taking waaaay too long due to a mysterious illness I have acquired since returning home from my trip which caused me to make a vomit on the hour for the last 3 days
The Green Goblin, inspired by his look from "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark", played by Robert Cuccioli.
Yes, I saw Spider-Man the Musical in NYC
And yes..... it was AWESOME
Seriously, it's not bad. I went in with Low-to-"Meh" expectations, and was pleasantly surprised at how well they pulled it off (after its refurbishing). Visually stunning and clever (like a pop-out comic book) and the songs weren't half bad either. I'm not a U2 fan, but the rock style of music suited the show. No jazz hands here. One of my favorite ensemble dance numbers involved a squadron of military, government soldiers that broke out into a contemporary mix of marching and hip-hop dance.
Oh, and Spider-Man. Doesn't. Sing.
He only sings as Peter Parker. The suited up Spider-Man is only there for the flying/fighting/action/stunt sequences.......which is cool by me haha.
Anyway, I liked the design of the Green Goblins costume in the show; designed by Eiko Ishioka (who also designed the costumes for Cirque du Soleil's "Varekai"). And he was probably the most awesome thing about the show. He had a very Scar-like persona going on (from "The Lion King" musical; also directed by Julie Taymore) which made him very likeable and amusing
Would I recommend the show if you're a general Spider-Man/U2/Bono/The Edge fan? Yes.
Would I recommend the show if you're a fan of shows in general? Absolutely!
